Another member of the “blue” family, the Russian Blue is a rare breed and its birth is the subject of much speculation. One of the legends says that soldiers had these cats on their backs with their claws scratching them to blood when departing in battles. Others say the Russian Blue was the Tsar’s favorite and that Queen Victoria also had one she adored as a pet. Most of the people believe that these cats were brought to England from the Russian islands called Arhanghelsk. This is why they were also known under the name of Archangel cats.
Russian Blue kitties are warm and playful. When they grow up they become shy towards strangers and whenever somebody new comes in the house they have the tendency to go hide, coming out only when the coast is clear again. They are devoted to the entire family but choose a single person closest to their heart and that lucky one enjoys an overabundance of love and attention from this imperial feline.
Where aspect is concerned Russian Blue individuals are blue-grey, with a thick rich undercoat and a grey-silver coat. They are short haired cats so they do not need special attention where grooming is concerned. An occasional combing and passing your humid hands through their coat will insure the falling hair’s cleansing. The Russian Blue’s almond shaped eyes are usually of a deep green and are positioned on a cobra like face. The wedged head is adorned with large and pointed ears disposed laterally. These cats pay special attention to hygiene and they will refuse to accept anything less than a perfectly clean litter box. Therefore it is indicated to never skip this detail out of sight if you do not want to encounter any smelly “surprises” on your carpet or in other comfy, clean places.
A Russian Blue’s constitution is slender and shows long strong muscles without being cobby. They are elegant felines, although some present a disposition for gaining extra weight. You should watch the portions (70kcal/kg a day is enough). These cats are independent and will be perfect choices for people who have to work outside the premises for a living. They will greet you “smiling” at the door, with their calm and relaxed look. These smart creatures will indulge in any number of games, some of them dog-like: fetch, opening doors and closets and anything that can be opened. When stressed or bothered they will take refuge in high places and wait for the nuisance to disappear.
Russian Blues do not appreciate noisy or loud spaces. They are also very quiet and pleasant creatures who require moderate attention. Although having escaped near extinction after the second World War these cats are still extremely rare and expensive. Their spectacular looks are complimented by an aristocratic personality.

My name is Svetlana Brodskaya.
I live in the small town of Sumy, which is located in Ukraine.
We began breeding cats professionally in 1995 and in 2000 we registered our cattery in the CFA. Choosing our cats, we took into consideration not only sweet expression, excellent lines of body and head, quality and texture of coat, but also the existence of such important qualities as kind and obliging character, lack of aggression to the other cats and not stringing for marking the territory.
Our sires and dams were delivered from Light Air Cattery. And their parents were brought from such famous American catteries as Marhei, Spellbound, Bolo and others.
